Day 1: Free & Easy in Fukuoka
Settle into Tenjin, the heart of Fukuoka for the day before your guided tour starts! Free and easy day and night to relax and get ready for a fun-filled adventure!
Tour Day 1: Castle Ruins to Cozy Eateries
Start the day surrounded by cherry blossoms in the atmospheric ruins of an old castle, then enjoy lunch at a specialty eel restaurant. Visit a scenic hilltop shrine before strolling through a charming traditional Japanese town. Marvel at an exquisite display of handmade dolls and explore shops that capture the spirit of a bygone era. End the day with dinner in a cozy, old-style local eatery.
Tour Day 2: Volcano Views & Cherry Blossoms
Begin the day at a unique and wonderfully photogenic temple, then savour what may be Kyushu’s best countryside lunch. Visit the dramatic crater of an active volcano, followed by a stroll through scenic cherry blossom fields at dusk in Aspecta. Cap off the evening with an optional soak in a natural onsen and a delicious dinner featuring local Kyushu beef.
Tour Day 3: Gardens, Ferries & Fields of Gold
Wander through the beautifully landscaped Suizenji Jōzūen, a classic Japanese garden rich in seasonal beauty. Enjoy a local specialty lunch before hopping on a scenic ocean ferry ride. Spend the afternoon viewing cherry blossoms set against a sea of vibrant rapeseed flowers. Explore mysterious buried houses, then unwind with an optional onsen bath. End the day with a fresh seafood dinner featuring the local catch of the day.
Tour Day 4: Volcanic Views & a Kaiseki Finale
Explore the dramatic, steaming landscapes of the Unzen Hells before enjoying a hearty local-style lunch. Wander through a historic castle garden bursting with 2,000 cherry trees in full bloom. Later, take part in a hands-on green tea making experience, then settle into a wonderful traditional ryokan. For those who wish, unwind in a high-quality natural onsen before enjoying an unforgettable final kaiseki dinner.
Tour Day 5: A Taste of Tradition, A Night in the City
Start the day with a scenic stop at an ancient cherry tree in a green tea plantation, then explore the Village of the Secret Kilns, known for its traditional pottery. Browse local shops and enjoy lunch at a pottery-themed café. In the afternoon, travel to Fukuoka city. Spend a free evening shopping, dining, or exploring the nightlife. Optionally, visit the Fukuoka Castle area for street food and illuminated cherry blossoms during the sakura festival.
Departue Day: Farewell & Thank You

What kind of accommodation will I stay in?
You will stay in a mix of clean and comfortable city hotels and traditional Japanese ryokan inns with onsen baths. In the city hotels you will be sleeping in western beds. In the Japanese ryokan inns you will be sleeping in a mix of western beds and traditional Japanese-style futonbeds on tatami mat flooring.
What kind of food can I expect on the tour?
Your trip planner is a passionate foodie. She has carefully selected every eatery to highlight the quality cuisine that Kyushu is so famous for throughout Japan. If you have any dietary restriction please ask us about alternatives available before booking your tour.
How will I travel around?
A comfortable private bus.
How many people can join?
We love small group intimate travel. Maximum participants will be 12 pax.
Is this trip suitable for seniors?
Toggle ContentDefinitely yes! You will be travelling by private bus and accompanied at all times by an English-speaking tour leader. There are no long hikes on this tour but of course you will need to walk around various attractions. There will be some non-paved paths and steps to climb (especially in shrines or temples). It will be no problem if you prefer to skip any activity and wait for the group on the bus or in a seated area.
